On-Site Registration @ Conference Info Desk

All participants are requested to announce themselves at the Conference Info Desk on arrival, in order to receive a name badge and materials for the conference. The Info Desk is located in the lobby of the HWK building and will be open for participants during the following dates and times:

  • Thursday, 13 February, 8:00 - 18:00
  • Friday, 14 February, 8:00 - 16:00
  • Saturday, 15 February, 8:00 - 12:00

Coffee Breaks & Meals

Coffee, tea, and cakes will be available for conference participants during the scheduled coffee breaks. They are served in front of the conference room. Lunch and banquet will be served at set times in the canteen of the HWK.

Participants with special dietary requirements are asked to notify the organizing team by e-mail prior to their arrival if they have not already done so when registering. It will not be possible to provide an alternative menu unless prior notification has been received.

Internet Access

In the HWK building there is an open wireless internet connection, which can be used for browsing the internet and checking e-mails from participants' own device. The access code will be available at the Info Desk.

Staff Assistance

There will be two student assistants at the conference venue at all times. They are happy to help you with technical issues for your presentation, and with any practical questions or problems you may have during the conference. You will recognize student staffs by "STAFF" on their name badge.

Local Transportation

The conference site is within walking distance of the city center (ca. 1.5 km). Please note that there is no transportation provided by the conference organizers from the hotels to the HWK.

In case you prefer taking a bus to the venue: The local bus (201 & 206) runs to the conference venue from the railway station. The bus leaves from the bus stop "Delmenhorst Bahnhof/ZOB" and need approximately 15 minutes to the destination "Delmenhorst Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg". Please note that the connections are not very frequent. The one-way ticket costs 1.90 EUR and can be bought directly from the bus driver. A ticket is valid for one transfer (e.g. the return journey) within an hour.

A limited number of parking spaces is available in front of the HWK building. The conference participants are also allowed to use the parking lot of the nearby supermarket ("Lidl")


The daytime temperature in February is usually between +4.8 and -1.1 Celsius; at night it can get even colder. The sun rises before 8 o'clock in the morning and sets around 17:30 o'clock in the evenings. The weather in this region can be really variable, so please consult weather forecasts.

Foreign Exchange & Banking

There are several bank branches on the streets running through the center of Delmenhorst, which are usually open Monday-Friday 9:00-16:00. Most international credit cards (Visa, Eurocard, MasterCard, American Express etc.) and debit cards are accepted in hotels, department stores and restaurants. However, almost all supermarkets and drugstores will NOT accept credit card payments. ATMs can be found on the streets as well as at the railway station.

Health Services

Emergency health care is available at the Klinikum Delmenhorst near the HWK. For help with first aid, please contact the Info Desk. The emergency number in Germany is 112. Local pharmacies (Apotheke) sell prescription-free drugs and remedies.

Smoking Policy

In Germany, smoking is prohibited in enclosed public places and in public transportation. Within the venue, you are only allowed to smoke outside.
