Observatory at the University of Oldenburg
The observatory of the university of Oldenburg is equipped with a wide range telescopes. Numerous cooperations and memberships enable regular access to telescopes with a diameter of up to 1 m.
The selection of instruments results on the one hand from our research questions but on the other hand also from our didactic aims. In the course of the practical education at the telescope the students start with fundamental observation techniques with small telescopes. As a next step the students use robotic telescopes. Step-by-step they are prepared to utilize large research telescopes. The graduation of this “telescope licence” is an excursion to the Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur and the use of telescope with a diameter of 1 m for several days. An overview of this practical education can be found here.
