Introduction of the members with background on accreditation

General information

Various possibilities for intervention:

• Evaluations at the end of the module, evaluators receive these, unfortunately rarely used

• Programme accreditation = accreditation of a degree programme (every 8 years)
• System accreditation = system of the university itself, functionality of the *quality management systems of universities that accredit themselves, with external experts
• Concept accreditation = accreditation of new study programme concepts

• Accreditation for quality features:
  • Comparability
  • equality
  • Improvement of degree programmes

• Recommendation for accreditation
  • Workload varies greatly
  • Materials have to be collected such as evaluation forms and module handbooks, types of examination, plural economics as purely neoclassical (individual)

Accreditation process

• 4-5 days effort
  • Preparation (looking through documents etc.)
  • 2 days inspection
  • Writing an expert report

• You apply for accreditation, accreditation comes in approx. every 2 months

System accreditations

• take place every 6 years
• check whether everything is working
• Students can complain to the university's internal accreditation bodies in the event of problems

International accreditations

• also possible at an early stage
• English language skills are important

Discussion of individual cases

• Degree programmes in Freiberg not accredited
• Difficulty of accreditation of diploma programmes (are usually not accredited)
• Accreditation could influence the type of examination
