Computing Science in the Neurosciences

Computing Science has become an integral part of modern natural sciences: controlling experiments, managing, analysing, exchanging and processing data is done with the help of computers and requires intelligent algorithms. Modelling and simulations are an important source of scientific knowledge. This also applies to the neurosciences. However, Computing Science is more than just an auxiliary science, it is a close intellectual cousin. Just as in Computing Science, the concept of information processing and the question of how inputs are converted into outputs is at the centre of neuroscientific interest.
