DAAD contact grants for international doctoral candidates

The University of Oldenburg in Germany aims to strengthen its international ties and to increase the number of international doctoral candidates. In line with this, scholarships financed by the DAAD’s scholarship and supervision programme for international doctoral candidates will be awarded for stays of international doctoral candidates between 2019 and 2021 by the Graduate Academy and the International Office.

The supported doctoral candidates must be registered doctoral students at one of the partner universities of the University of Oldenburg (e.g. via Memorandum of Understanding; Student Exchange Agreement; agreement-based research cooperations) and need to be integrated into a research group. The duration of the stay should be between one and six months. The stay should take place in 2020. The intended stay may commence one month after the application deadline at the earliest, the monthly grants for the stay amount to EUR 950.

  3. A supportive statement by the supervisor at the home university
  4. A letter by the research group at the University of Oldenburg that describes the intended role of the international doctoral candidate as well as his or her scientific and practical activities in the group, providing an approximate schedule for the research stay.
  5. If applicable: proof of further external funding (e.g. pay slips, scholarships)

Please note: If you have additional income (either part-time job or scholarship), please provide proof when you apply (details on the grant provider, grant amount, pay slip).
If your application is successful, your monthly income will have to be taken into account and possibly offset (this applies to monthly income in excess of EUR 450).
