From the 12th to the 14th of June 2019, the stakeholder workshop on "Sustainable Mobility" took place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. In Dar es Salaam the construction of a Rapid Bus System has started three years ago and has now reached its second phase of construction. The new bus system provides many advantages for passengers such as reducing traveling time due to separate bus lines that bypass congestions. However, the system faces also major challenges. The LIPSINDAR team, comprising of ECOSOLA, AfriCity and the GOPLAREA members, used the three days to discuss these challenges with local stakeholders. Using different methods such as World Café and discussions in small groups, three subjects of major interest were identified: (1) systematic criticality, (2) integrating green infrastructure, and (3) impacts on communities. These topics are further worked on in small pilot studies coordinated by the three partners.
The workshop was a great success. The local stakeholder showed great interest in the workshop and its outcome. Further, the German partners were able to exchange conceptional ideas and network.
