WISENT - Knowledge-network Energy Meteorology
Overview
WISENT is a project funded by the German Ministry for Education and Research aimed for optimizing the cooperation of R&D-organisations in the field of energy meteorology by means of advanced Information Technologies. Renewable energy sources that depend mainly on weather influences are the focus of these organisations.
The already established interdisciplinary Helmholtz-cluster "virtual Institute of Energy Meteorology" (vIEM) will be supported using distributed computing resources and grid services. Also paticipating are market players and IT research partners. A grid based infrastructure for common use of data, collaborative work and information/document sharing will be created.
The project's intention is to establish a grid community "energy meteorology" orientating within the D-Grid initiative to ensure a sustainable utilisation of the achieved results within and beyond vIEM. Therefore, the analysis of used and planned technologies in order to gain interoperability plays an important role in the project.
