Finances and scholarships

You should expect to spend about EUR 950 per month for accommodation, health insurance, and food.

Estimated monthly expenses:

  • Accommodation: EUR 200 to 450
  • Health insurance: approx. EUR 120
  • Food: EUR 250 to 350
  • "Rundfunkbeitrag": monthly amount of EUR 18,36 per flat (can be splitted between flatmates)
  • Miscellaneous expenses (e.g. leisure, books, materials, etc.)

Other expenses:

  • Semester contribution (including semester ticket): EUR 324.82 for students of partner universities and DAAD scholarship holders, EUR 399,82  for Freemover
  • Residence permit for students from non-EU countries: EUR 110
  • Intensive German language course during semester break: EUR 250
  • Trips for international students: EUR 60 to 80 per weekend-trip
