Sustainability of Biogas Production and Use

Relevance to climate change, food competition and biodiversity Dr. Guido Reinhardt, ifeu (Heidelberg), presents the UBA study on future biogas scenarios. -- Biogas, as other RE sources, is assumed to be sustainable. Dr.Reinhardt from the 'Institut für Energie- und Umweltforschung Heidelberg' gives a more detailed look on the effects of biogas production, particularly with regard to climate change, food competition and biodiversity. Dr. Reinhardt has led the study on future usage of biogas for the Umweltbundesamt. The lecture is part of the Biogas Workshop organised by the 'Postgraduate Programme Renewable Energy' (www.ppre.de). Participants from all over the world will discuss possible biomass conversion paths with respect to sustainability.
