On November 12th 2025, Póstaeir san Oireachtas — Ireland’s national Posters in Parliament event — took place in the Houses of the Oireachtas at Leinster House, Dublin. The event is part of Posters in Brussels, an Erasmus+ project that promotes undergraduate research, improves science communication, and strengthens civic engagement by connecting students directly with political decision-makers.
Under the theme “Research for Change”, 30 students from 14 Higher Education Institutions across the island of Ireland were selected to present their research posters to politicians, senators, and policy-makers. The showcase brought together a diverse array of research across disciplines, from education and sustainability to healthcare, infrastructure, society, technology, and artificial intelligence, each highlighting potential contributions to public policy.
The posters were exhibited in Leinster House from 7 to 14 November 2025, with the main live showcase event held on 12 November. During the event, students pitched their research to over 40 members of the Oireachtas and engaged in meaningful dialogue about how their findings could inform and strengthen evidence-based policy.
Organised by Atlantic Technological University (ATU) in cooperation with a national committee representing multiple institutions, Póstaeir san Oireachtas empowered participants with training in research communication and public engagement prior to the event. Following the showcase, contributions from the participants will be published in a special edition of the undergraduate research journal SURE-J.
The event highlighted the vital role that undergraduate research can play in informing public debate and policy and offered students a unique opportunity to connect with policy-makers in person.
