Orientation on the Wechloy campus
What do the room names mean?
The room designations at the University of Oldenburg are always made up of three parts, which we explain using the example of the chemistry student council room: W3-2-265
- W3: The first part stands for the campus and the wing. W stands for Campus Wechloy and 3 stands for Wing 3, which is where most of the Chemistry rooms are located.
- 2: The second part provides information about the floor on which the room is located. There are four floors on the Wechloy campus, from floor 0 at ground level to floor 3 under the roof. The ring level is floor 1 and the student council room is on floor 2.
- 265: The third part is room number. Each staircase is labelled with the rooms to be found when you leave the staircase to the left or right. It is best to look in which direction you have to go. From here the rooms are always in chronological order.
If you still can't find a particular room, feel free to ask other students for directions.
Below you will find the most important rooms and locations for the typical first-year chemistry student.
The images can be enlarged and the site plan can be downloaded as a PDF.
W3-2-265 Student council room
If you use the staircase for the chemist wing from the ring level and turn right on the second floor, you will find our room on the left-hand side at some point.
The room is normally locked, but you can find us here for meetings, when we sell lab coats or by prior arrangement.
W3-1-156 small chemistry lecture theatre
W3-1-156 can be reached from the ring level. It is located directly next to the staircase for the chemistry department.
The majority of all chemistry lectures take place in this lecture theatre.
Laboratory supplies warehouse
You will find the laboratory supplies store if you walk from the ring level to the right-hand side of the chemistry wing and then go down a staircase to the ground floor. From there you just have to find the corridor shown in the picture next to a goods lift and there you will find the laboratory supplies store.
You can find more information about the laboratory supplies store and opening hours here.
