About us

Our working group is characterised by an open and friendly working atmosphere. Your permanent contacts in the research department are Mrs Linngrön (study nurse) and Mrs Seeber (scientist) - both are always available. The junior doctors who work in research will also be happy to help you with any questions you may have. There are plenty of tasks, so it rarely gets boring. You will be able to take part in many university events so that you can gain insights into various areas of interest. The atmosphere in the office is usually fun and relaxed, which contributes to a positive working environment.

University Clinic for Orthopaedics

Description of the FWJ place

In the scientific department of the University Clinic for Orthopaedics at Pius Hospital Oldenburg, we offer two FWJ students the opportunity to actively participate in various research projects. This position is ideal for anyone who is interested in medical topics relating to the musculoskeletal system and would like to get a first impression of (clinical) research and scientific work.

The range of surgical services offered by the University Clinic for Orthopaedics at Pius Hospital primarily includes endoprosthetics of the large joints hip, knee, foot and shoulder, as well as joint-preserving surgical treatment of numerous pathologies of the joints in the lower and upper extremities. In surgical orthopaedics, the constant monitoring and promotion of patient safety and quality assurance is essential. This requires regular data collection and the resulting scientific studies.

As an FWJ student in our department, you will support us in various retrospective and prospective studies on the topic of joint replacement (including robotics and 3D printing) and rehabilitation after joint replacement. The tasks within the FWJ include, among other things

  • Handing out tablets and questionnaires to patients* participating in our studies,
  • checking the returns for completeness and, if necessary, consulting with the patients
  • contacting patients by telephone and requesting data as well as scheduling potential study participants for follow-up examinations in the orthopaedic outpatient clinic
  • Preparation of research data under supervision and maintenance of research databases
  • Organisational support for departmental (teaching) events (e.g. the annual Winter School)

If you are interested, you will have the opportunity to actively participate in courses organised by the department and thus get to know the university environment from a "student perspective". There is also the opportunity to work in the operating theatre, on the orthopaedic wards and/or in the office hours of the orthopaedic outpatient clinic.

We are looking for committed and motivated young people with good organisational skills and a meticulous approach to work. Friendliness and good communication skills are also important.

Desired prior knowledge

  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office package
  • German mother tongue or fluent
  • Good knowledge of English
