We are a group of students who have set out to integrate Low German into our everyday university life. To this end, we founded the Low German Forum in October 2023, which meets every fortnight during the lecture period to exchange ideas.

We see this forum as an opportunity to connect Low German speakers and those interested in Low German at our university. We want to give you the opportunity to use the language and make it visible at the university. To this end, we exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere on various topics in Low German (or High German), e.g. Low German in literature, theatre, in language policy or in social media - or completely different topics that are simply on our minds at the moment. We also try to realise our own projects and events at our university.

We warmly welcome all Plattsnackers and anyone who is interested in getting in contact with the language and would like to get involved!

Low German Forum at the University of Oldenburg

We are a group of students who have set themselves the task of getting Dutch into our university everyday life. That's why we founded the Dutch Forum in October 2023. Every two weeks, we will be working on a joint project in the lecture theatre.

We see this forum as an opportunity to bring together learners and students who are interested in Dutch at our university. We want to give you the opportunity to actively use the language and get to know it. In our forum, we talk in a comfortable atmosphere about various topics in Platt (but also in German), literature, theatre, language policy and social media - but also about other topics that occupy us on an hourly basis. But we also try to rethink the end of projects and events.

We welcome all plattsnackers/platters and people who would like to come into contact with the language and enjoy getting involved in it!
