Did you know?

  • As a doctoral candidate at the UOL, you can take part in the events organised by our cooperation partner BYRD (University of Bremen). Register now!
     
  • The Award for Excellent Doctoral Supervision, offered by the Universitätsgesellschaft Oldenburg (UGO), will again be awarded this year in order to recognise the commitment of supervisors of doctoral candidates. Doctoral candidates who are in the final stage of their PhD are eligible to nominate suitable candidates for this award. Furthermore, postdoctoral researchers, whose doctoral certificate was issued after July 31, 2023, are eligible to nominate their former supervisors. Please find the nomination form and more information on the UGO-website.
     
  • UMO Connect - Networking for doctoral candidates and postdocs at University Medicine Oldenburg: Across disciplines!

NEW: At the end of 2024, the University of Oldenburg published general recommendations for dealing with (generative) AI in the doctoral field published.

Measures to ensure equal opportunities at the UOL
Are you doing your doctorate with a chronic illness or disability and would like support during the challenging time of further academic qualification? Are you taking on family responsibilities during your doctorate and looking for guidance and support? The University of Oldenburg offers the following measures to improve your work-life balance:

  • Individual coaching
  • Funds for the temporary employment of assistants

Highlight of the month

Exzellenzstrategie: Great success for the university

Huge success for the University of Oldenburg: All three high class research projects (Hearing Science: Hearing4all; Animal navigation science: NaviSense; Marine Science: Ocean Floor) that have applied as Exzellenzcluster in the Exzellenzstrategie have been approved and will be funded for seven years. This also fulfills the precondition for a possible funding as Exzellenzuniversität from 2027 onwards. The universities of Bremen and Oldenburg have devided to join forces and apply for the latter funding together. More information can be found on the website of the university.
