Applications are now open! In winter semester 2025/26, the new mentoring programme "Perspektiven. Wege in die Wissenschaft" (in German), which is aimed at advanced doctoral candidates and early postdocs who are the first in their family to complete an academic education.

  • Reichart Prize 2025: Science prize open to all disciplines
    This year, the Academy of Non-Profit Sciences in Erfurt, together with the state capital Erfurt and the universities located there, is once again organising the Reichart Prize - Erfurt Young Talent Award for Applied Sciences. All information about the competition can be found on the website.
  • Online event series: Meet-the-Data@Bildungsdaten
    Are you looking for data for your term paper, dissertation or doctoral thesis? The event series of the Consortium for the Social, Behavioural, Educational and Economic Sciences (KonsortSWD - NFDI4Society) is launching a series of events on data sets and advises on data access and data use. Starting from 13 March! More information at https://www.konsortswd.de/en/.
     
  • Events organized by the International Office der UOL
    03.04.2025 | Reception at the City of Oldenburg | 2:30 – 4 pm
    All new international students, doctoral candidates and researchers will be welcomed to Oldenburg by officials from the City of Oldenburg in the historic town hall. Afterwards, there will be a city rally for all international students. All doctoral candidates and researchers are welcome to join the rally, too.
    Location: We will gather in front of the historic town hall ("Altes Rathaus") opposite "Kaffee Hamburg" at 2:30 pm.

    05.04.2025 | ArtFest in Bremen-Vegesack | 10:45 – open end
    According to the organisers, the ArtFest in Bremen-Vegesack is „a celebration of art in all its forms" and is organised by students at Constructor University in Bremen. With this exhibition, art from artists from all over the world is brought to Bremen to celebrate diversity and creativity. Art forms include, for example, cartoons, sketches, paintings, drawings, photography, film, poetry, theatre, dance, interactive installations, textiles, performances, mixed media. You can find more information about the ArtFest on their website.
    Meeting point: Oldenburg main station, South side (Hauptbahnhof Süd) at 10:45 am (train departure: 11:05 am)
    Costs: There is no entry fee. However, please note that all travel routes to and from Bremen-Vegesack and within Bremen are at your own expense (e.g. CampusCard/ semester ticket, Deutschlandticket or a VBN ticket for the whole day).

  • UGO-Open-Science-Preis 2025
    It is aimed at projects and initiatives that are guided by the principles of open science in their work and actively endeavor to make research results and processes transparent and accessible to the public.  Application deadline: 20.04.2025

NEW: At the end of 2024, the University of Oldenburg published general recommendations for dealing with (generative) AI in the doctoral field published.

Measures to ensure equal opportunities at the UOL
Are you doing your doctorate with a chronic illness or disability and would like support during the challenging time of further academic qualification? Are you taking on family responsibilities during your doctorate and looking for guidance and support? The University of Oldenburg offers the following measures to improve your work-life balance:

  • Funds for the temporary employment of assistants
