Health Services Research
Health Services Research
Welcome to the Department of Health Services Research
Preliminary considerations for the establishment of a Department of Health Services Research were summarised in 2012 in a "Positionspapier zum geplanten Aufbau des Departments für Versorgungsforschung".
In 2013, the department was then founded with the transfer of Prof. Andreas Hein from Faculty II / Computer Science to Faculty VI / Health Services Research in May 2013. Information on the first years can be found in the Departmentbericht 2013-2017.
Improving individual health and maintaining independence
The Department of Health Services Research represents an interdisciplinary perspective on the comprehensive health care of ageing people.
The aim of our research is both to improve the individual health and maintain the independence of older people in the Oldenburg region and to improve care in Germany as a whole.
Responsible Digitalisation
We are convinced that digital technologies will shape future healthcare. Therefore we research and develop future-proof, digital solutions for the home environment and for healthcare facilities and strengthen cross-sectoral data use and analysis. To this end we are expanding the spectrum of methods in health services research as well as in computer science and engineering.
Strong user-centredness
With our research we aim to ensure that prevention and health care are continuously improved and consistently oriented towards the needs and preferences of those affected. In doing so, we research and take into account the perspective of users and other stakeholders. We use participatory research approaches to actively include this experience and expertise in our research.
Healthy Aging
The importance of demographic change for our society is becoming increasingly obvious. Therefore, an important focus of our research is on good ageing and the question of how health problems can be prevented and how they can be detected and treated at an early stage in order to have a self-determined and fulfilled life as long as possible.
Realised Interdisciplinarity and diversity of methods
The analysis of the current care situation of ageing people as well as the evaluation and further development of new forms of care is the aim of our department. In order to take into account the complexity of our research subjects and the care context, we use the broad spectrum of methods of health services research, combine different approaches and develop them further.
