Equal opportunities at the ICBM
No one may be discriminated against because of their origin, gender, sexual orientation, ideology, disability or other characteristics.
The ICBM therefore offers its students and employees various points of contact that provide support and advice in the event of experiences of discrimination or unequal treatment.
This creates an appreciative and supportive learning and working environment in which everyone can feel comfortable and safe.

Contact persons at the ICBM
The ICBM's Equal Opportunities Officersprovide initial counselling, inform about all possible further steps and can initiate official complaints procedures
The confidential counsellors provide information on the services offered by the university and, if necessary, refer you to other offices
The awareness team is explicitly aimed at students and provides information and referral to other centres if necessary
The ICBM Gender Equality Officers in Wilhelmshaven and Oldenburg provide advice on all questions and problems relating to equal opportunities and Gender equality.

Psychological counselling service (PBS)
For problems and questions relating to mental health and emotional well-being during your studies and in your personal environment.
All counsellors at the Psychological Counselling Service (PBS) Oldenburg have a basic academic psychological or educational qualification and at least one additional psychotherapeutic qualification.
Counselling & coaching for employees
Personal stress, conflicts or work-related problems can affect our mental health and job satisfaction. It can then be helpful to discuss and clarify your own thoughts and feelings with an external person in a protected environment. This can often open up new perspectives and solutions.
Counsellors Dr Astrid Beermann and Jutta Vaihinger offer you counselling and coaching to help you deal with your issues. We focus on your concerns, your current situation and your social context. Together we look for new perspectives and possibilities. These should increase your own room for manoeuvre and thus bring about a noticeable improvement in your personal feelings and situation.
Representative for Employees with Disabilities
The SBV is active in an advisory and supportive capacity in all matters that affect an individual severely disabled person or severely disabled persons as a group and their equals.

Free menstrual products
Compensating for disadvantages - addressing menstruation
The ICBM offers free menstrual products for students and employees. The offer was initiated as a pilot project in the winter semester 2023 by the Gender Equality Department of School V and Katinka Hoppe, ICBM.
By providing free menstrual products, the ICBM is helping to remove taboos from the topic, counteracting period poverty and making an important contribution to the further implementation of educational equity.
The dispensers contain tampons (normal size) and sanitary towels. The products are made from organic cotton and are free from chemicals, chlorine bleach and perfume. Menstruating students are welcome to use this service.
