Thanks to funding by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) the fee for the summer school is 80 Euro only. The costs for accommodation in multi-bedrooms, course materials, most of the meals and the local transport will be covered.
Travel grants will be available according to the DAAD regulations for non-German participants travelling from abroad. The amount depends on the country in which the participant's home institution is located. The DAAD list with the fixed rates is available here (in German only; relevant are the amounts listed in column 1/Spalte 1).
DAAD will cover health, accident, and third-party liability insurances for the duration of the summer school (provided that exact travel dates are available by July 5, 2013). The health insurance is valid for acute diseases only.
The application period has expired. We are going to start the selection process immediately, and will inform applicants asap. Given the high number of applications this may last until early May.
The summer school aims at young scientists with a background in marine or environmental natural sciences of all disciplines. Researchers at PhD student level are welcome to apply, but also young post docs and advanced master students. We aim at a diverse mix of provenances, gender, and of different scientific disciplines or specialisations.
The application is informal (as a single pdf file) and has to include
- a CV (1 page) and
- a motivation letter (1 page)describing the scientific background of the applicant and his/her personal expectation from attendance of the summer school.
Good English knowledge must be appropriately documented in the application.

The number of participants is limited to 15. A selection will be made by a committee of organisers and lecturers. The successful applicants will be contacted by end of April/early May 2013. We expect your confirmation within two weeks. Thereafter, we will invite applicants from a waiting list to fill the remaining places.
