Computing Science is everywhere! It is increasingly permeating our environment, though it often only becomes apparent in phenomena such as self-driving cars, sensor-controlled home and appliance automation systems, or surgical robots. Computing Science is used to create new worlds, such as in ‘The Hobbit’ at the cinema, ‘The Sims’ on a laptop or ‘Minecraft’ on a mobile phone. Behind all these phenomena lies a great deal of technology that we must use purposefully and also master. To achieve this, we need responsible young professionals who can design, implement, operate and further develop complex IT systems, and who are also able to assess their impact on our society.

Join us in harnessing information technology to create a better world

At this year’s Open Day, we’d like to give you an insight into some of the topics, methods and applications of Computing Science: through taster courses in programming, student projects, a Computing Science obstacle course, as well as specialist talks and presentations on studying Computing Science and business informatics.

The Information Day is aimed at school pupils from Year 10 onwards, but anyone else who is interested is also very welcome.

… and, of course, there’ll be a phenomenal opportunity to play the piano on bananas too!
