How do I apply for INSTEP?

You do not apply for INSTEP, but directly for the degree programme of your choice. International applicants automatically have access to INSTEP offerings.

I am new and about to start my studies. Which events should I attend?

You can choose freely from the offers in INSTEP.
You are free to choose from all the courses and select the offerings that suit your requirements best. 

I am a refugee and I am interested in studying at the University of Oldenburg. What do I have to consider?

Refugees can register as guest students.

Study preparation

Preparatory German courses

The University of Oldenburg offers preparatory German courses for applicants with the aim of obtaining the DSH certificate.


DSH examination

The DSH exam takes place twice a year, in February and in July. You will find more information on the pages of the Language Center.


English courses

The Language Center offers a choice of English courses across the competence levels from A2 to C1 (CEF).


Deutsch PLUS - Language assistance

A tutor accompanies and supports international students in any way possible during their first semesters.


Scientific methods

The Learning Workshop of the Study and Career Counselling Service supports students of all disciplines with questions relating to scientific work and writing.


Subject-specific preparation and contact information

For subject-specific questions international students can contact the subject study advisors of their degree programme.

In addition to scientific methods, we offer a number of other workshops and events to support international students in their studies.
