Fees

The intensive courses are free of charge for all enrolled students of UOL. The course fee for non-enrolled participants is 250 euros (according to the "Fees Regulations” of the University of Oldenburg).
External participants (not enrolled und without access to Stud:IP) must pay the course fee and apply as a guest student and pay a guest student fee of 120 euros.

Information on the payment methods will be provided on receipt of your registration.

In case you cannot or can not longer participate you must cancel your registration by email until the third day of classes. After that day, a reiumbursement of the course fee is no longer possible.

Intensive German language courses

During the semester break, we offer intensive courses at various levels:

B2.1 in February and August
A1.1, A2.1, B1.1 and B2.2 (levels might vary each semester) in March and September

For:
International students (exchange, degree seeking and PhD students)
International researchers (guest researchers)
External learners (only residual places); External learners must register as guest students

Information on the intensive courses

  • 4 weeks
  • always Monday to Friday
  • 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. (5 units per day)
  • a total of 100 teaching units
  • levels A1.1, A2.1, B1.1 and B2.1 (may vary)
  • successful completion is worth up to 6 ECTS/ credits points (according to the examination regulations of your study programme)
  • free of charge for students / 250,- Euros for non-enrolled participants

Registration for the intensive German courses

- for the intensive course B2.1: December, 18 – January, 28

- for the intensive courses A1.1 and B2.2: December, 18 – February, 25

If you have not taken yet any German language course with us nor have you joined our online Placement test you must take the test on Stud.IP on January, 31 (for B2.1) or on February, 28 (for B2.2). The result of the Placement test is valid for one year. You will receive more information about the Placement test once you have registered.

Please note that this winter semester break we are only offering intensive language courses at A1.1, B2.1 and B2.2 level. During the lecture period of the summer term we will be offering our Deutschkurse 1-8 (level A1.1-B2.2). The courses of the summer semester will start w/c April, 2. 

Please also note that our courses might be subject to change. The minimum number of particants is 5. If this number is not reached the course will not take place.

If the number of places is limited, the chronological order of registration is decisive.

Our intensive courses

Intensive course A1.1

Scope and content: 100 taught credit hours of reading, listening, speaking, writing, grammar and cultural studies at A1.1 level (CEFR).

Description: This intensive language course is aimed at learners with little to no previous knowledge of German. It serves as an introduction to the elementary use of German. Participants learn to communicate in German in a simple way so that they can settle in and find their way around as quickly as possible, especially at the university. In doing so, great emphasis is placed on communicating about everyday cultural topics.

Intensive course B2.1

Scope and content: 100 taught credit hours of reading, listening, speaking, writing, grammar and cultural studies at B2.1 level (CEFR).

Please note that this intensive course always takes place already in February and August.

Description This general German course builds on knowledge gained at level B1 and serves to consolidate and expand the independent use of German. The course is based on complex written and oral texts. In the area of linguistic production, participants learn to communicate spontaneously and fluently and to express themselves clearly and in detail on a wide range of topics. This includes explaining a point of view on a current issue and identifying the advantages and disadvantages of different options. Grammar skills are also developed throughout the course.

Intensive course B2.2

Scope and content: 100 taught credit hours of reading, listening, speaking, writing, grammar and cultural studies at B2.2 level (CEFR).

Description

Please note that each course only covers half of the respective CEFR level. During the semester, you have the opportunity to attend courses at all levels.
