Science and research thrive on the cross-border exchange of ideas and findings.

The aim of the promotion of European and international cooperation is to strengthen Lower Saxony as a science location in three areas:

  1. Enhancing the profile of Lower Saxony's universities in the international context
  2. Expansion of international scientific cooperation with individual countries and regions and in specific scientific fields
  3. Developing new and strengthening existing international cooperation at universities

Members of the University of Oldenburg can apply for funding from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK) to promote European and international cooperation in science and research. Applications must always be submitted through the International Office.

Unlike other years, where the deadlines for applications are on 31 January and 15 July, applications for the 2020 financial year must be submitted by 31.03.2020. The date of the postmark will be used. The requested activity must be completed by the end of February of the following year.

Please provide a short description with a summary (no more than one page) and the financing plan at least 10 (ten) business days before the end of the submission deadline. The complete application must be received by the International Office no later than 5 (five) days before the end of the submission deadline.

PROFILinternational funding format

This format provides funding for pilot and model projects of international cooperation that strengthen the profile of individual universities in research, study and teaching as well as transfer or contribute to the implementation of the internationalisation strategy of the respective university. Activities that are initiated and carried out by several universities in the network and that sharpen the international profile of the university network across locations are also encouraged. Activities designed to implement the internationalisation strategy of the LandesHochschulKonferenz (conference of Lower Saxony universities) to strengthen Lower Saxony as a science location are also welcome.

As a guideline for the maximum funding amount in this funding format, EUR 30,000 should be assumed for applications submitted by individual universities and EUR 60,000 for collaborative applications. Applications should not fall below a threshold of at least EUR 10,000. Major deviations from these guideline values should be discussed with the responsible specialist department of the MWK before the application is submitted.

Application deadline: 31.03.2020
