Advice on going abroad during "special operations"

For the time being, all face-to-face advisory services of the International Office are cancelled. You can reach us during regular office hours on Tuesdays (10–12.30 am and 2.30–4.30 pm) and Thursdays (10–12.30 am) by phone (telephone numbers listed below). The SSC – Student Service Centre (A12) is closed to the public. Please send original documents by post or use the post box in building V01 (Poststelle), Ammerländer Heerstraße 118.

Exchange programme 2021 (Non-EU)

From 2 November to 2 December 2020 you are welcome to apply for an exchange at the partner universities listed below. Applications for exchange places at partner universities in the US and Canada are open until 20 November 2020.

Most information webpages regarding the exchange programme are only available in German. Please contact us if you need further information in English.

Please note: Due to the Corona crisis and the numerous entry and travel restrictions, it is currently not possible to make a definitive statement about which stays abroad will be possible in the course of the coming year 2021. We are in close contact with our worldwide partner universities as to national regulations and decisions to provide you with the best possible information and support. If the situation at the time allows, we would of course like to continue supporting you in your mobility project. Feel free to send us your application and we will keep you up-to-date on further developments.

Requirements for participation

  • Applicants must have completed at least one year of a degree programme at the time of departure
  • Good academic standing
  • Good language proficiency (supporting evidence required)

Application documents

The application consists of two steps: 

Step 1: Online application

Please complete the online application form (in German) (Access link is only activated during application period)

Step 2: Document upload into Cloud Storage

Submit the supporting documents by 2 December 2020 at the latest. Prior to uploading your documents in the university's cloud storage, please merge the documents into a single pdf file. The file should be named as follows: Bewerbung_Non_EU_Your Name

  1. Cover form for the application
  2. Letter of motivation in German plus (depending on the destination country): English, Russian or Spanish;
    max. 2 pages; please include the following aspects: Reasons for choosing the country and the host university, choice of courses at the partner university, integration of studies abroad with studies at the University of Oldenburg, language skills, previous stays abroad
  3. Curriculum vitae - Table format, 1-2 pages, in German and in the language of the host country<
  4. Language certificate - E.g. DAAD language test, IELTS, TOEFL (please pay attention to the requirements of the host university)
  5. Current transcript of records (you can download a transcript via Stud.IP)
  6. Enrolment certificate (University of Oldenburg) for the current semester
  7. Letter of recommendation from a lecturer (only if requested)
