Internationalisation of teacher education project "Lehramt.International". Scholarships for students of teacher education – for exchanges in South Africa or the Netherlands

To promote the internationalisation of teacher education, we offer ten full scholarships, funded by the DAAD, to spend a semester abroad in South Africa or the Netherlands. Ideally, your stay abroad will be combined with an internship at a local school.

We are calling for applications from 20 October until 1 December 2020.

Please note: Due to the Corona crisis and the numerous entry and travel restrictions, it is currently not possible to make a definitive statement about which stays abroad will be possible in the course of the coming year 2021. We are in close contact with our worldwide partner universities as to national regulations and decisions to provide you with the best possible information and support. If the situation at the time allows, we would of course like to continue supporting you in your mobility project. Feel free to send us your application and we will keep you up-to-date on further developments.

To ensure that students are able to benefit from and continue to build upon the valuable experiences gained and new perspectives acquired during their exchange, all students take part in an intercultural training before they leave. The International Office and the respective department also provide support in terms of organisation and the content of the exchange programme. The students also take part in a follow-up workshop when they return to Germany.

Requirements

Funding is available for students of teacher education regularly enrolled at the University of Oldenburg who

a) are German citizens
b) are equivalent to German citizens as set out in Section 8 (1)(2ff) and Section 8 (2), (2a) and (3) of the BAföG (in this context the wording of the law applies, available at: www.das-neue-bafoeg.de)
c) non-German students and graduates if they are enrolled at the University of Oldenburg for the purpose of obtaining a degree or doctorate.

By participating in the international online workshop with the partners of the project Lehramt.International you qualify for an application for one of the scholarships. Passive participation (listening in and attending only one single workshop) is sufficient. If you missed the workshop, please make a remark on your application. We will then send you a short question about the workshop context; the answer is sufficient as a qualification.

Applications

Please submit your application by uploading your documents in the university's cloud storage (one single PDF file please):

The scholarships will be awarded by a committee in consultation with the schools ("Fakultäten"). The main criteria for awarding a scholarship are the letter of motivation and the average grade. You may be invited to meet the committee in person.

The decision of the committee is final and legal recourse is excluded.
