The group Inorganic Chemistry (Prof. T. Müller) at the Institute of Chemistry at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences seeks to fill a position of a

PhD student (f/m/d)
Salary according to TV-L E13, 65%

at the earliest possible date. The position is part of a DFG funded project “Construction, Transformation and Derivatization of Heterosila-adamantanes”. This project involves close collaboration with the research groups of Prof. C. Marschner (TU Graz, Austria) and Prof. M. Wagner (University of Frankfurt, Germany).

The position is limited to 3 years and serves for personal scientific qualification (doctorate).

Your tasks will include:

  • Construction, transformation and derivatization of heterosila adamantanes and performing mechanistic studies (experimental and theoretical)
  • Close collaboration with cooperation partners of the project
  • Publication of research results in scientific journals
  • Active participation in scientific conferences
  • Supervision of students

Recruitment requirements are:

  • Scientific university degree (diploma / master's degree) in chemistry or a comparable discipline
  • Passion for inorganic molecular chemistry
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Willingness to travel

Ideally you have:

  • Experimental expertise in synthetic organoelement chemistry, especially silicon chemistry
  • Knowledge of heteronuclei NMR spectroscopy
  • Experience in or willingness to learn quantum mechanical computational methods
  • Willingness to supervise students
  • Very good communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team
