In the event of a significant change to a degree programme, a justification must be provided to the MWK, and consultation with the accreditation agency is also required. If the changes are extensive, the degree programme in question may need to be re-accredited.

Changes to degree programmes generally come into effect in the winter semester; however, in the case of changes to programme titles, care must be taken to ensure that the admissions regulations come into force before the start of the application procedure.

Significant changes to degree programmes are e.g:

• Changes
  • the name
  • the degree title / academic degree
  • the standard period of study
  • the place of study
  • the curricular standard value
• Introduction / abolition of specialisations or specialisations
• Closure of the degree programme

If a name change is accompanied by a drastic change in the content of the degree programme, it may be necessary to close the existing degree programme and establish a new one.
