Professor Brinkmann, Dr House & Co: What doctor and hospital series say about our society

What do doctor and hospital series say about our society? With this question, medical historian Cornelius Borck (Lübeck) and Americanist Martin Butler (Oldenburg) will kick off a public series of events on the topic of "Medical Humanities" at CORE on 25 November 2025. Using examples from the German and English-speaking world (from the Black Forest Clinic to Dr House) , the lecture aims to show how such series intervene in debates about equality, racism or the healthcare system, for example, calling up common clichés but also critically questioning them.
