Research interests

I work as a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Debener's Neuropsychology lab on auditory brain-computer interfaces (BCI), funded by 'Hearing4all' Cluster of Excellence. My research follows a multidisciplinary approach implementing machine learning methods in neuroscience. Recently, it has been shown that valuable information on human speech processing and understanding can be extracted from brain activity. As such EEG-recorded brain signal could provide an individualized, automatic control for hearing aids, making listening a more pleasant experience for hearing-aid users. I am particularly interested in novel data analysis methods and their role in bridging the gap between EEG and heading aids. My current work focuses on developing approaches for objective measurement of listening attention and listening demand for the purpose of automatic hearing-aid fitting. As development of the hearing aid of the future demands mobile EEG solutions, tackling artifact detection challenges in mobile EEG systems is of great interest to me.
