Introduction to Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)

Online workshop via BBB/Stud.IP Meetings

Next Generation Sequencing technologies have recently revolutionised biological sciences. This workshop will provide students with an introduction to bioinformatic approaches to handle and analyse NGS datasets. The following topics will be treated:

Day 1: UNIX/Linux and Perl for Bioinformatics
Day 2: Introduction to NGS: Platforms, File formats, Quality control and preprocessing, alignments
Day 3: NGS toolkits, evaluation of alignments, mapping statistics, alignment visualisation

The course consists of lectures and accompanying practical exercises.

Technical requirenments:
For access to the Universities HPC Cluster, Windows user need MobaXterm and Linux/Mac user can log on via the ssh terminal. Additionally, you need R and a texteditor like notepad++ or emacs.
