The Orientation Year programme consists of the following:
- German language courses for obtaining the DSH-Certificate ('Deutsche Sprachprüfungfür den Hochschulzugang' or 'The German Language Test for the Admission of Foreign Study Applicants'). Language courses are combined with discussion sections led by qualified students. Qualified students are those who went through the training programme provided by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony to train students to become companions in language learning.
- Preparatory courses for university entrance and higher education in Germany. These classes discuss basic questions such as the recognition and transfer of credits and degrees, study opportunities, and applying to universities through uni-assist. The participants will also learn about the demands of higher education at German universities, as well as work on improving their English skills for their future studies.
- Courses for guest students that you can attend for your subject specific orientation. The participants can also take exams in these courses and obtain a limited number of credit points.
- Special support and advisory services.
The programme is integrated into the university's regular language courses and degree programmes. This helps participants integrate into university life during their Orientation Year.
