Information for new Students

Dear students,

I am glad you are interested in or have already opted for studies at the Institute of Physics at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. We will do everything to facilitate the entry into your studies and look after your further progress. This is one of the strengths of physics education in Oldenburg, as repeatedly certified by the newspaper ZEIT and the CHE university ranking.

Please take some time to browse the Institute's website. You can thus get a good overview of the structure of studies in various programs, become acquainted with our research areas, find points of contact and much more. Don’t hesitate to email questions to or to . We will come back to you as soon as possible.

Good working knowledge of mathematics significantly helps you getting started with your studies. To improve or refresh your mathamatical skills, we encourage you to participate in a two-week preparatory course mathematics offered prior to the start of the lecture period.The course starts on September 23rd 2019, 8.15am until October 4th in room W2-1-148. Please take into account that both details still can change. Therefore take a look into the current list at the end of September once again.

The Institute's programs will be presented on October 8th 2019. Please note that the distribution of time slots for your first lab and exercises assignment will take place at the same time.These dates should not be missed:
