RISE: Research internships for physics students
The Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft is a partner in the RISE programme (Research Internships in Science and Engineering) of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). In the various RISE programmes, students are given the opportunity to work closely with a doctoral candidate in a research institute or industrial company.
The "RISE in North America" programme for German Bachelor students, which has been running since 2009, is now being expanded to "RISE worldwide". As early as next summer, students will no longer be able to go to North America alone for a research internship, but to other countries around the world.
The aim of the programme is to give outstanding students the opportunity to pursue their specific research interests and gain international experience at an early stage. The research internships will take place during the summer semester break and are aimed at students who are at most in their fifth or seventh semester at the time of application and who will not have completed their studies in autumn 2011.
Interested students can apply online between 6 December 2010 and 16 January 2011 at www.daad.de/rise-weltweit.
