Specialist seminar "Grid integration of renewable energies"

First joint specialist seminar organised by the Hamburg Renewable Energy Cluster and the ForWind Academy

Focus on grid integration of renewable energies

Oldenburg/Hamburg, 06/09/2012

50% of gross electricity in Germany is to come from renewable energies by 2030 - an ambitious target that can only be achieved through more efficient integration in the electricity grid and the expansion of efficient and at the same time more intelligent electricity grids. Renewable energies pose major challenges for future grid infrastructures and market mechanisms, including the growing number of decentralised generation units and the increase in fluctuating grid feed-in. These fluctuations can be absorbed by intelligent grids and control systems. In the future, these should link the players involved in the energy system, from generation to transport, storage and distribution through to consumption.

In order to familiarise project planners and employees of planning offices, operators, managing directors and employees of energy suppliers and energy traders with the complex topic of grid integration, the Erneuerbare Energien Hamburg Clusteragentur GmbH and the ForWind Academy are organising their first joint seminar on "Grid Integration".

first joint seminar on the topic of "Grid integration of renewable energies" on 24 and 25 October 2012 in Hamburg-Altona.

Prof Dr Detlef Schulz, Helmut Schmidt University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg, will speak about the basics and current problems relating to the integration of renewable energies into the grid. Steffen Schostan, REpower Systems SE, and Prof. Dr Martin Kaltschmitt, Hamburg University of Technology, will provide practical reports. The aim of the seminar is to provide participants with in-depth and up-to-date knowledge on the integration of renewable energies into the grid. The list of topics includes: Grid feed-in, generator types, voltage reactive power control and the spatial distribution of renewable energies.

The ForWind Academy and the Erneuerbare Energien Hamburg Clusteragentur GmbH are launching their co-operation with this specialist seminar. Further information on the event can be found at www.energiekalender.de, www.eehh.de and www.forwind-academy.de.
