Chaos and fractals : physics workshop for pupils
Oldenburg. "Chaos and Fractals" is the topic of a workshop for school students, which the Institute of Physics is organising for the twelfth time in cooperation with the Cäcilienschule Oldenburg. The workshop will take place on Saturday, 25 January, 9.00 am to 6.00 pm, at the University of Oldenburg (Wechloy campus, room W2 1-148). Pupils in the region from Year 10 onwards who are interested in physics are invited to attend. The organiser is Dr Ludger Hannibal, private lecturer at the Institute of Mathematics and teacher of Mathematics, Physics and Computing Science at the Cäcilienschule.
The workshop aims to promote interest in physics and encourage students to study it. It offers a varied programme with experiments and work in small groups. "Chaos in the heart and the journey to the hospital - methods of non-linear physics in use for medicine and technology" - this is the title of the lecture given by Oldenburg physics didactics expert Prof Dr Michael Komorek at the end of the workshop.
Student teachers from the Institute of Physics will supervise the pupils. Materials, magazines and catering will be provided. Sponsor is the Landessparkasse zu Oldenburg.
Participation is free of charge. Registrations by Thursday, 23 January, by email to: anmeldung@physikworkshop.de.
