Every year, the University of Oldenburg awards a teaching prize for outstanding achievements in the education of students. In the 2013/2014 academic year, the prize in the Best Lecture category went to experimental physicist Dr Petra Groß and her colleague Prof Dr Christoph Lienau from the Ultrafast Nanooptics working group at the Institute of Physics.

Both were honoured by the jury for their convincing didactic concept in the experimental physics lecture on electrodynamics and optics. The inclusion of current research results in the teaching of the lecture material, the use of different teaching and learning methods and the varied and innovative use of media were particularly emphasised.
