In March 2019 DLR-VE in Oldenburg had the honor of hosting a group of their partners from the South Africa mini-grid project for a week of workshop in Oldenburg. The aim of the workshop was to develop Key Performance Indicators to implement in the mini-grid Monitoring and Evolution Platform.
One of the main objective of South Africa mini-grid project is to develop and strengthen international academic partnership.
As part of a joint program between South Africa and the Germany’s state of Lower Saxony, a PV hybrid mini-grid is designed and developed in the municipality of Upper Blinkwater in the Eastern Cape.
DLR‘s role is to design a systematic approach to development of a sustainable MEF for PV hybrid mini-grids by integrating cutting-edge technologies and SMART methods in a scalable platform of replicable solutions towards connecting the mini-grid with diverse stakeholders with enhanced observability of both generation and consumption profiles.
The delegation was also introduced to the PPRE team to discuss some ideas about future partnership.
