The Center for Wind Energy Research (ForWind) is partner in the joint project "CompactWind II", which will receive a total of 1.4 million euros in funding from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi) over the next three years.

Early Spring Open Garden Event by E-lab Garden team

In late March 2019 the E-lab Garden Team invited PPRE-students and friends to an Open E-lab Garden Event. The E-lab garden is expanding, soil was prepared and new seeds were planted – even a new banana plant in the E-lab Atrium.

After incoming students of the Postgraduate Programmes Renewable Energy (PPRE) at University of Oldenburg are settled in Oldenburg and enjoyed the first weeks of regular lectures and labs, PPRE is organizing the annual RE Career Days to provide career perspectives and present different job profiles available in the field of Renewable Energy (RE).

2019 Intersolar Conference and Exhibition

Dr. Ram Prasad Dhital, Nepal (PPRE 2001/02)

Dr. Ram Prasad Dhital defended his pending PhD in renewable energy engineering from Tribhuvan University, Institute of Engineering Pulchowk Campus Nepal on February 10, 2019. The government of Nepal has recently appointed him as one of the commissioners/members for the newly established Electricity Regulatory Commission of Nepal (NERC).

Biomass is the major source of household energy in many tropical countries. It contributes over a third of primary energy in most developing countries and is predominantly used in rural households for cooking and water heating, as well as small scale industries.

Engineering photovoltaic devices for space environment comes with totally different set of challenges compared to terrestrial applications. Materials have to be tested stringently for degradation due to charged particles, micrometeoroids, UV radiation, extreme temperature cycling, arcing, atomic oxygen etc.

PPRE alumni network supports Tsunami victims in Indonesia - Your good deeds are still being counted!

Bagus Ramadhani, Indonesia (PPRE 2013-15)

Palu and Donggala in Central Sulawesi in Indonesia were severely hit by 7.4-magnitude earthquake and tsunami of up to six meters on September 2018. Communication network and power was cut and infrastructure was collapsed. Responding to this, as renewable energy enthusiast, PPRE alumni raised funds to help the victims to get the access to electricity and drinking water.

The re-started series of ISREE symposiums marks a renewed understanding that education is a vital part of implementation of renewable energy.

Micro-hydro project using municipal waste water as the source

In Fort St. John, British Columbia, Canada, the City pumps fresh water from wells drilled adjacent to the Peace River at the bottom of the Peace River Valley. An enormous amount of energy is needed to pump this water up 200+ meters to the City's water treatment plant.

3-Phase Hybrid Solar Power Backup Systems in Mali

Simeon Nwaogaidu, Nigeria (PPRE 2007/09)

Simeon is stationed in Bamako, Mali at the moment, where he employed by Synergistic Consulting Services FZC, UAE as an Alternative Power Consultant to United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mal (MINUSMA), Field Technology Section. They carry out backup power systems projects, do monitoring, and provide expert advice and maintenance.
