Night Science, developed and shaped by Itai Yanai and Martin Lercher, explores the creative and emotional side of scientific work: how new questions, ideas and hypotheses arise; how surprising observations can open up new avenues; and the often less visible thought processes that precede good research.

This aspect of science is particularly important to me because research consists not only of methodological rigour and hypothesis testing, but also of curiosity, playful thinking, doubt, surprise and the exploration of new connections. I therefore very much enjoy running workshops and courses on Night Science and scientific creativity.
