Services and Programmes for Refugees

Welcome to the University of Oldenburg!

Are you a refugee and interested in studying at the University of Oldenburg? Our university is a place that is open to the world. Diversity of opinion and international exchange form the basis of our scientific activities.

We offer advisory services and academic programmes as well as language courses and support and leisure activities to refugees who hold a university entrance qualification or have an academic educational background. Our goal here is to integrate them into our community and support them on their path to studying in Germany.

During a personal consultation we can help you decide what your next steps should be. We can also advise you on how other university facilities and services can help.

Those who have already studied in their home country or hold a qualification that entitles them to study at university level can apply for a place at the University of Oldenburg.

Application and Enrolment

Project "Changing Direction"

In the new project "Changing Direction", refugees and migrants are accompanied after drop-ping out of education. The goal is a self-determined and sustainable career start in Germany.

The Orientation Year was aimed at refugees who wanted to prepare for starting or continuing university studies in Germany and acquire the necessary German language skills.

This programme included

  • language courses in which you can acquire the German skills needed for attaining the German university entrance qualification
  • opportunities to get an idea of what studying a specific subject is like, including working with other students
  • introductory and follow-on courses on academic working methods in Germany
  • specific support and advisory services
