ForWind - Center for Wind Energy Research

ForWind - Center for WInd Energy Research (Prof. Dr. Joachim Peinke)

ForWind is the joint Center for Wind Energy Research of the Universities of Oldenburg, Hannover and Bremen. Its basic research broadly covers both engineering and physics.

ForWind conducts fundamental research in wind energy, providing scientific support for industrial projects, organizes education and further education for future experts and conducts specialist workshops and conventions.

Amongst others, four of the research groups at the University of Oldenburg participating in the bi-national doctoral training network are part of ForWind, namely Energy Meteorology, Turbulence, Wind Energy and Stochastics (TWiSt), Wind Energy Systems (WE-Sys) and Environmental Informatics.

The illustration above gives a brief overview of the activities of the involved research groups of the university of Oldenburg and the link to the project group "Computational Fluid and System Dynamics" (CFSD) of the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology (IWES).
