once again, we would like to share some information with you through our newsletter:
- Burst Buffer Testing: We have integrated a new storage server into the HPC cluster which provides a so-called burst buffer. Similarly to $TMPDIR, a job can request a directory with a certain size which is then available during the job for very fast I/O. The server with four NVMes can provide an I/O-bandwidth of up to 12GB/s, while a single compute node is limited to 6GB/s due to the FDR Infiniband. Please let us know if you have I/O-intensive applications that you would like to benchmark with the burst buffer. Details on the usage are explained in the HPC wiki.
