The Hybrid Author. Subject-Making and the Practice of Autofictional Self-Staging in the German-speaking Contemporary Literature


The PhD-project investigates practices of subject-making in terms of literary 'self'-staging in seven works of contemporary literature. Those very different authors and works are symptomatic for a subject-concept which I call “entrepreneur of his self” and which is of crucial importance in contemporary literature and culture. Economics has – by now – become the hegemonic discourse of subject-making as well as the guideline for actors in the literary field. By focusing on literary stagings of authors, my project, hence, makes an interdisciplinary feasible contribution to the research training group. more...
