Research project
Studies from various sports indicate that pain and the use of painkillers are widespread in junior competitive sport. Young female competitive athletes have a comparatively high prevalence of taking painkillers on their own and therefore run the risk of damaging their health and athletic performance in the long term.
Due to the side effects of the menstrual cycle, young female athletes experience more non-sport-related pain than male athletes and the female organism is more susceptible to side effects.
A number of studies therefore call for preventative support for young athletes. This is where StrongHer comes in and offers a procedure and content that are derived theoretically and empirically. StrongHer is accompanied by an evaluation of young female athletes.
The evaluation is formative in order to better adapt StrongHer to the needs of young female athletes and summative in order to test the short and long-term impact.
