The registrar’s office decides whether an applicant is admitted to a study programme. Usually you will receive admission after your data has been forwarded to the University by uni-assist.
You will be informed about the decision via e-Mail approximately four weeks after the application deadline.
The responsible admissions committee of the respective faculty decides on the admission. Admissions committee conference dates (only available in German).
Your will be informed via mail about the admission decision as soon as the decision has been made.
If you receive a rejection of your application, you may sue according to the legal remedy in the rejection letter.
If you did not receive admission for an admission-limited degree programme, you can apply for a different degree programme. Applying for a different degree programme is also possible if the case may be that you were rejected due to your subject linked university entrance qualification.
If you received an admission letter, please follow the instructions in the letter and visit our office for enrolment within the given time period. Our office is in the StudierendenServiceCenter (SSC) and our office hours are listed in the right column of the admission letter.
Please bring the following documents for the enrolment:
- certificate from a legal health insurance company about a (at least 6 months) contract beginning Oktober, 1st
- the receipt for the deposit of the semester contribution (if you use online banking: print version of the account transactions) as a proof of the payment of the semester contribution
- identity card or passport and residence permit or visa
- please also bring original degrees (school, university and proof of language proficiency) for presentation if you want to enroll in professional studies.
Beginning or continuing professional studies sometimes requires additional conditions.
This means that certain academic achievement is mandatory for entering professional studies (possibly at a higher semester).
For (international) students, who acquired credits in foreign countries, The University of Oldenburg offers the option of beginning or continuing professional studies, although the required credits have not been achieved. If this is the case, the admission is conditional on the fulfillment of individually determined conditions.
Usually, applicants have 2 semesters to complete the missing credits.
The compliance of the conditions is required to continue or complete the professional studies. Non-compliance of the conditions may lead to exmatriculation.
The preparatory language course (German) is considered a condition as well.
No, the final decision about admission or non-admission is made by the university.
- The admission’s office makes the admission decisions for bachelor’s study programmes
- The respective faculties make the admission decisions for master’s degree programmes
- The University of Oldenburg can only help, if the delay has been caused by the foreigners' registration office (which rarely happens)
- Otherwise, the University of Oldenburg can either
- postpone the application (for admission-limited programmes) or
- postpone the admission for the preparatory language course or
- postpone the admission to an open admission degree course
You should apply early (3 months before the end of the application period) to reduce the risk of non-admission.
