Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship - Master's Programme

Orientation and Goals

The ability of organisations to innovate has become a central success factor in the management of changing business challenges, especially in the current age of rapid change dynamics. This extra occupational master's programme in Innovation Management at the University of Oldenburg is designed to offer a combination of highly practical as well as theoretical approaches to the issue of innovation management. The highly flexible modular structure of this programme allows students to study according to their own qualification needs. The organisation of the programme distinguishes itself through the combination of self directed learning and periods of presence on campus (2 x 2 days per module), accompanied by internet supported cooperative study. The final degree award is a Master of Arts. Managers and aspiring managers with a background in economics who wish to help shape innovative processes in their companies are encouraged to apply. This includes those who wish to develop sector-specific skills in addition to the core area of Innovations Management, as well as others such as engineers and technicians who wish to improve their management skills. This programme is generally aimed at all those who wish to become generalists in the management of innovation and change - economists, social scientists, engineers, and technical experts. This programme offers students intensive study and further education opportunities in special innovation management related themes such as project management, knowledge management, organisational development, leadership, innovation cooperation, methodical innovation, the effects of innovation, and other relevant fields.

Foreign Language Skills

In order to study this course at the University of Oldenburg as a student from outside of Germany, you need an adequate knowledge of German.

German Language Proficiency
You can proof your German language proficiency with the following language certificates:
  • DSH: Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (Level 2)
  • TestDaF: Test – Deutsch als Fremdsprache (with level 4 in all four areas)
  • Final exam of Studienkolleg (German part of the exam)
  • DSD II: German certificate of Kultusministerkonferenz II
  • Language Certificate from the Goethe Institute C2: 'Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom'
  • telc German C1 University: Certificate from the passed exam

Careers and Areas of Employment

Upon finishing this programme, graduates are competent to decisively initiate and manage strategies and projects in their businesses. Furthermore, they are able to theoretically organise and further develop their practical experience in innovation management. Graduates of this programme are generalists in the management of innovation and change. They possess specialised knowledge and skills in innovation management at the master's level, and are qualified to apply this knowledge in management as well as in technology. They act as an interface between management and new technologies.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification worth at least 210 credit points
  • Two years of professional experience
