FAQs

How much does it cost to take part in the INSTEP study preparation programme?

You will pay the standard semester fee for enrolment. There are no other fees. We can register refugees as guest students and exempt them from all costs.

Can I also apply directly for the INSTEP study preparation programme?

You can only take part in the INSTEP study preparation programme if you have previously applied via uni-assist.

Can I still take part if I have no/insufficient knowledge of German?

The study preparation programme starts at B1 level. You must therefore have at least reached A2 level.

How long does the study preparation programme last?

If you start with B1 or B2, the study preparation programme lasts two semesters. If you start with C1, you only need one semester to complete the course. In exceptional cases, it is possible to resit the German course. This means attending the course for an extra semester.

I would like to study a degree programme taught in English. Can I still benefit from study preparation services?

For students studying degree programmes taught in English, we offer the INSTEP study support service.
