At the 5th BUIS Days, 55 contributions from science and industry were presented in the following thematic groups:

• Green IT & Energy Efficiency
• Green Production & Logistics
• Material Efficiency & Recycling
• Material flow management
• Sustainability management & communication
• Sustainable mobility
• Green Software

Eight papers were presented at the Energy Aware Software Engineering and Development workshop, which took place parallel to the 5th BUIS Days.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who were instrumental in the organisation of the conference and thus responsible for its success. Firstly, our thanks go to all the reviewers who made their expertise and time available to us. We would also like to thank Andreas F. L. Heydemann, Prof. Dr Ralf Isenmann and Dr Frank Köster, who opened the two main conference days as keynote speakers. We would also like to thank our sponsors and donors for their financial support and the material resources provided. In particular, we would like to thank CEWE COLOR AG & Co. We are also delighted with the high level of interest in the 5th BUIS Days from business and science. We look forward to the many new ideas and solutions in the BUIS environment and hope that these will find their way into future technical work.
