Co-operation with the Centre for Gender Studies (ZGS), University of Bremen
At the heart of the ZFG's regional networking is a close cooperative relationship with the Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Bremen (ZGS). The intensive academic exchange has a long tradition since the ZFG was founded and has resulted in sustainable joint projects and activities in the areas of knowledge transfer, promotion of young researchers and study programme development.
Both centres maintain a joint publication series "Studien interdisziplinäre Geschlechterforschung", transcript Verlag, as a long-standing ongoing project. The publications that have appeared to date have an interdisciplinary orientation and relate to the centres' diverse scientific focuses.
In the field of promoting young researchers, the two centres offered two joint doctoral workshops on gender research in 2006 and 2008, which gave doctoral candidates in the field of women's and gender studies the opportunity for intensive exchange, further training and networking.
A long-term project of the cooperation was the further development of teaching in the field of gender in accordance with Bachelor structures. Academics from the ZFG and the ZGS designed, implemented and maintained a joint BA Gender Studies degree programme, which has been offered to students from Bremen and Oldenburg as a cross-university degree programme since the 2007/08 winter semester. Due to far-reaching structural changes - a lack of staff capacity at the ZGS and the new integration of the ZFG in terms of content - the BA Gender Studies was only offered in this cooperative form for new enrolments until the 2010/11 winter semester.
