Lunch Time Lecture zum Thema Digitale Gewalt

Inhalt:
Sexualized violence in digital spaces – causes, consequences and prevention
Our society is becoming increasingly digital. Social media connects people, but many also experience violence there. Threats and insults are found every day. Intimate images are released, and victims are blackmailed. Women and girls are particularly affected by many forms of sexualized violence, which continues in digital spaces. The lecture will discuss the social causes of violence, how those affected can be supported, and how such forms of violence can be prevented in the future.

As part of the Orange Days - around the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25 - we would like to invite you to the upcoming Lunch Time Lecture on the topic of digital violence. The Orange Days draw attention to gender-specific and sexualized violence and increasingly focus on digital forms.

Current figures show that there is a need for action: According to the Federal Criminal Police Office, several tens of thousands of cases of digital violence were recorded nationwide in 2024, including stalking, sexual abuse, threats and the unauthorized distribution of intimate images. Women and girls are particularly frequently affected here - digital spaces are therefore not violence-free spaces, but often a continuation of existing inequalities.

Abstract:

Sexualized violence in digital spaces - causes, consequences and prevention

Our society is becoming increasingly digital. Social media connects people, but many also experience violence there. Threats and insults can be found there every day. Intimate images are published and victims are blackmailed. Women and girls are particularly affected by many forms of sexualized violence. This also continues in digital spaces. The lecture will discuss the social causes of violence. It will also address how those affected can be supported and how we can prevent these forms of violence in the future.

We look forward to a lively participation and to passing on this invitation in your departments. Please use the attached flyer and the information on our website.
