Discussion

Until now similar studies investigated transregional patient groups who have been treated oncological under stationary conditions.
A comparable study(1,2) examined in their cohort 150 patients and could prove a reactivate Hepatitis B on 11,2%.

In our study we limited the cohort on an ambulatory oncology Medical Service Center in the „Südoldenburger Land“.

We analyzed the dates according to the incidence and prevalence of hepatitides at ambulatory oncology patients in the catchment area of the surgery.

It had been shown that all hepatitis B patients with positive results come from Eastern Europe or have immigrated.

Based on the results it becomes clear that even ambulatory oncology patients are at high risk of hepatitis B.

To reduce complications, a consistent hepatitis screening in the risk groups should belong to the standard.
